I’m Feeling that Liebster Love! And the Award Goes to…

I was completely taken aback yesterday when I was awarded the Liebster Award by fellow blogger, Coco Rivers.

Coco, the honor is all mine!

Coco’s blog, Streams of Consciousness is quite impressive. Coco says:

I love words, in all forms and all languages. Writing is a passion that has governed my life since I was 14 years old. As with all great passions, it leads and you follow. Mastering my wordplay is a lifelong endeavor, a labor of love. Loving the road less travelled, I have taken a circuitous route to find my Voice and so prize my arrival even more.

You never know what Coco is going to write about, and that’s a good thing! Whether she’s bringing us up to speed on the political circus, raising awareness on many levels, indulging our erotic senses, or just making us think about “Things that make you go hmm…”, Coco is always on point. In addition to being an awesome writer, traveler, and amateur chef, she is also a professional landscaper. Who knew? A true renaissance woman, she is. Go Coco! 🙂

As per the guidelines for accepting the award, I’d like to award a Liebster Award to five other blogs that I love to read. They are:

Of Wine and Words – hosted by Christopher Smith. I had the pleasure of meeting Chris via a Twitter connection and fellow blogger. His profile bears the following:

writer. poet. artist. comic. smart aleck. and a hundred more facets to my personality.”

Chris’ arsenal of vocabulary seems unlimited, though his pieces are shorter than those found on your traditional blog. The words in his poems and haikus seem to dance off his tongue and onto paper, evoking such powerful imagery, that it seems to engage all senses at once. Let’s just say, he has quite a way with words!

Sparks in Shadow, hosted by Kathleen Harris, or Ré, is up next. In her words:

I like to laugh, I want to write, and I hope to spark and share conversations with those of you who meet me here. I like to be alone. I hate to be alone. I’ve never met a contradiction without wanting to give it some study. I used to think I was average. I’m not so sure about that anymore.”

I affectionately refer to Ré as “LadySparks!” because she “sets it off” by taking her writing to the next level each time.  She is an empathetic soul and kindred spirit; a true gem, as are her “tiniest stories”, which find a separate home at  Words One Hundred. I also think that LadySparks! has a special gift in her choice of photos. It seems that the photos are just waiting in the wings for her stories to come along.  (Ah shucks, this counts as two awards! Oh well. Yay me!) 🙂

The fourth Liebster Award goes to Over-Standing!!!, hosted by Caesarina “Ceez” Paul. Ceez hails from the Nature Island of Dominica, in the West Indies, which is also my birthplace.  She is a recent graduate of Midwestern State University, and is a first generation university student. Ceez recently added the title of author to her list of accolades, with her recent publication of “What’s On Your Mind? – The Diary of an Esteemed Woman“.  At the core of all of her writings, which are largely informed by her faith walk, is a young woman who is deeply aware and remarkably grateful.

Last, but not least is The Handicapped Kitchen, hosted by Trevor who “loves to bake” is his Peruvian kitchen. Trevor says:

“Ever since I was a kid I was always intrigued by what my mom was doing in the kitchen. I have plenty of memories watching her force her 1960’s mixer into submission…Living in Peru has actually peaked my interest in baking even more. … So, I’m spurred on by my homesickness to try to create, as close as possible, smells and tastes from home in my Peruvian kitchen…If your kitchen is 80 square feet and you’re using your metal water bottle as a rolling pin, then you hardly need an explanation.”

Trevor’s blog whets my appetite each time because I know that he pours love into his culinary creations.  Check out his recipes for Monkey Bread and Buttermilk Cornbread.  Hungry yet?  I don’t know about you, but food that feeds the soul never leaves me hungry!

Liebster is a German word that means beloved or favorite. The Liebster Award is an award from fellow bloggers given to up and coming bloggers that have less than 200 followers.
